EQUESTRIAN EVENTS
Equestrian events abound in Camden.
Watch thoroughbreds
train at Springdale Race Course, dress for and witness the steeplechase races
at the Carolina and Colonial Cups, take in
the polo match in May, or go to the Camden Equestrian Center to see a horseshow or rodeo
event. Or just take a Sunday drive and see the beautiful horse farms
and stables.
HISTORIC
SITES
From the authentic town of Boykin with its quaint Company Store and working
mill to the fascinating Camden Archives & Museum, Camden offers a delightful
trip back in time. Along with countless prime examples of elegant antebellum
architecture comprising the Camden Historic District, Camden also hosts the National Steeplechase
Museum and a Revolutionary War
Museum with an annual re-enactment. Within minutes of each other, see
where the Battle of Camden and the Battle of Hobkirk Hill were fought (and
unfortunately, lost) against the British. Camden was also the home of six
Confederate generals.
THEATRE AND THE ARTS camden has one of the best fine arts centers in the area offering theatre productions, sponsored events such as the Camden Blues Festival in October of each year, the Christmas Tour of Homes each year, and the Kitchen Tour every two years, plus a variety of concerts and art exhibits year round. OUTDOOR SPORTS
The Camden area offers several excellent golf courses,
3 state parks, fishing, boating, and miles of walking trails. There
are also several public sporting clays and skeet and trap
clubs. The University of South Carolina Gamecocks are 40 minutes away
and the Charlotte Panthers are an hour and a half away.
SHOPPING
Camden and its surrounding area are also known for their enormous variety of antique shops, specialty shops, and art galleries.

The Boykin Christmas Parade is a must-see event.
Columbia, the capital of South Carolina, is a short drive away. Attractions include Five Points, the University of South Carolina, the Children's Museum - Edventure, the Governor's Mansion and many other beautiful historic homes, and the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Fort Jackson is also a short drive away.
